About Superior Forge & Steel Corp.

Superior Forge & Steel Corp. was founded in Pittsburgh in 1981 by the Markovitz family, and forging steel rolls is still all we do. Our roll division runs three production facilities — the Lima plant in Ohio, and the Pittsburgh and New Castle plants in Pennsylvania — staffed by a team with more than 250 years of combined experience in melting, forging, heat treating, machining and servicing rolls.

We are a fully integrated alloy-steel manufacturer, from scrap selection for melting through to finishing. Our primary product is forged and hardened rolls for the hot and cold rolling of ferrous and nonferrous metals, finished up to 1700 mm (67 inches) in diameter with weights in excess of 70 metric tons.

The quality starts in the melt shop. Single-ladle technology, vacuum degassing and 100% bottom pouring give us the cleanliness and purity a long-lived roll depends on, and an ISO 9001 quality system keeps every step accountable from the ingot to the inspection report.

And it does not stop at the shipping dock. Improving product quality and providing excellence in service is a continuous goal — our after-sale technical service regularly visits customers' plants to check roll performance and help solve rolling problems, wherever in the world those mills run.
